[Middle Margin] Bath. June 11.

[Right Margin] Bath. June 11. 1861

Hon. I. Washburn Jr. Augusta.

Sir: The Rev. John F. Mines, chaplain of the 2nd Regt. V.M.M previous to joining his Regt received assistance from me in getting his outfit for which he gave me his order for $35 on the Paymaster of the Regt. I have applied to Samuel F. Henry [Hersey?] of Bangor. paymaster who informs me that he can make no allowances for outfits without order from you. As Mr. Mines did not join the Regt. till after the advance was paid he received nothing. I understand the officers of the 1st Regt. received advances. If proper will you please direct Mr. Henry [Hersey?] to pay Mr. Mines order of $35 for his outfit.

Very Respectfully Your Obt. Servant

John H. Kimball
