Hallowell Nov. 8th 1820

Hon. William King,

Dear Sir,

I take the liberty to recommend [underscore] Samuel Moody [end underscore] Esq. of this town, as a suitable person for a member of the court[underscored] of Sessions[underscored] of this county.

I some time since signed a paper recommending Mr. Clark Esq. as a proper person to fill the office of Register of Probate. I did not at that time know that Doct. [underscore] Amos Nourse [end underscore] would be a candidate for that office; without therefore detracting from what I have said of Mr. Clark, I wish to have it distinctly understood, that I have a strong & decided preference for Doct. Nourse over Mr. Clark and all other candidates. An intimate acquaintance of many years has given me such an opinion of his talents, integrity, mis____ustry & _____vity of manners, that I know of no man whosoever whom I should think better qualified to discharge the duties of that office, and
