I think there will be no difficulty in enlisting the men in Bangor. They will not need the frock coat at present but the dark blue blouse instead, but they must be armed & equipped.

Will Mr Ricker be on soon with the horses & baggage wagons? It is very desirable we should have these soon – then we can move with our own means. I saw the report of the arrival of a large quantity of rifles in New York & supposed it was correct. The arms we have are not very effective & of course we feel very anxious to get better, so you must excuse me if I catch at remorse. The Bangor Band are very anxious to enlist for three years, & join this Regt. We want them very much indeed. We have made the arrangements for raising the money to pay them extra for their services. Can you have them enlisted immediately, & sent on, & I will have them mustered in here. We are very anxious to get them here as soon as possible, for I assure you it is a dry business running a regiment without music.

Trusting you will excuse my warmth on the subject of rations, I remain

With much respect your obt svt
