168. Bill altering the Militia system of this State, was taken up - Mr Carpenter moved an indefinite postponement and the question was taken by yeas & nays & decided in the negative as follows Yeas 65 Nays 67 see appendix page 250.] and then the Bill was referred to Messrs Eastman of Strong, Smith of Westbrook & Hodgman of Warren.

Bill incorporating the Mutual Fire Insurance Company reported with an amendment which was adopted, was on motion referred to the members of the Judiciary Committee on the part of the House.

Bill regulating the sale of Lottery Tickets and the drawing of Lotteries authorized by this State, was reported with amendments which were adopted, and then the House.

Adjourned until 1/2 past to oclock this afternoon.

Ordered that the committee on Finance be requested to inquire into the expediency of taxing township Number five in the second range of townships in the Country of Oxford and report ect - read & passed.

An order came from the Senate for concurrence directing the Secretary of State to notify the Governor, that the Legislature, by the concurrent vote of the two Houses, elected Isaac Hodsdon, Major General of the third Division of the Militia of the State & the House concurred.

Report of the Committee on the message of the Governor of Jan f 18 1827 transmitting Resolutions of the Legislature of Georgia, was read & accepted in concurrence with the Senate.
