Hon. I. Washburn Gov.

Dear Sir,

Chas. R. Veazie is a member of the Maine Second Regiment. He enlisted in Boston as the Reg. was passing through there & consequently did not receive his bounty. He writes his mother here that he has signed papers to enable her to get it. This was some four or five weeks ago but she has heard nothing from the matter since. Now she is very poor and a widow and needs the money much, & will be very greatful to you if you will put her on the track that she may get it. A.A.Wing Esqs suggested writing to you, so at her request I do so. Any thing for her directed to my care will be promptly delivered to her

Very Truly Yours J.C. Mitchell
