Nathanael Low was declared duly elected and having been notified of his election by Mr. Prime, signified his acceptance, and took and subscribed the oaths required by the Constitution before Horatio Southgate Esquire thereunto duly authorized, in presence of the Senate -

[Message from the House]

A message was received from the House of Representatives, that they had elected John Ruggles Esquire Speaker, and James S. Child Clerk and were ready to proceed to business.

On motion by Mr. Stebbins Ordered that when the Senate adjourn they adjourn to 3 oclock this afternoon

[Message to the House]

Mr. Green was charged with a message to the House of Representatives informing them, that the Senate was duly organized by the choice of Jonas Wheeler Esquire President and Nathanael Low Secretary

[Message to Governor & Council]

Mr. Stebbins was charged with a similar message to the Governor and Council

On motion by Mr Dunlap ordered that the Rules and orders of the last Senate be adopted until others are formed and accepted -

[Returns of votes for Senators]

The Secretary of State came in and laid on the table, the Returns of votes for Senators; and a letter addressed to him by Mark Sheppard signifying his resignation of a seat in the Senate
