On motion of Mr Sumner of Lubec,

   Ordered that the committee on the Judiciary be directed to inquire into the expediency of so altering the law on Highways, that persons neglecting to work out their Highway tax for sixty days after notice, may be compelled to pay the same in money read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

On motion of Mr Phelps of Fairfield,

   Ordered, that the Senate be requested to take from their files and send down to this House the Bill establishing County Work Houses ect with the accompanying papers- read & passed.

On motion of Mr Whiting of Whiting,

   Ordered, that the joint standing Committee on the Judiciary be directed to inquire into the expediency of altering or amending the several acts to exempt certain goods & chatter from attachment and execution & from distress for taxes, so as to include not less than bushels of potatoes for each family, and likewise the tools on implements of farmers necessary for their occupation - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

On motion of Mr Hyde of Bath

   Ordered, that the joint committee on Turnpikes, Bridges & Canals be directed to inquire into the expediency of allowing to the Merrymeeting Bay Bridge Company further time to complete said Bridge - read and passed. Sent up for concurrence.
