Mr Dear Governor

I think there will not be much of a shower[?] Brother McReuer heard two or three officers regretting my appointment as surgeon and thereupon sent you word not to send me – I doubt not that a few would have preferred Doct. Jones[?] of Bangor, but all the others without exception received me very cordially and I have no doubt, [?] aside, that I should receive more vote of officers and soldiers both for the place than any physician in Bangor as I am personally acquainted with more of them any other one – I think Col. Roberts and myself perfectly understand each other. Unless[?]you conclude to discharge me I shall strain to do my duty, and if I think my labors are not useful, I shall be quite as ready to leave as any
