The House extended the time for receiving petitions of a private nature to Saturday next.
Bill establishing Bowdoinham Academy, was read 1st & 2nd time and tomorrow at ten oclock assigned for a third reading.
Petition of Calvin Stockbridge & als to be incorporated as the North Yarmouth Manufacturing Company, was read & referred to the committee on Manufactures. Sent up for concurrence.
Bill to establish the Stillwater Canal Corporation, was read 1st & 2nd time & tomorrow at ten oclock assigned for a third reading.
The committee of both Houses to whom was referred the subject of Sheriffs fees - reported a resolve providing for the return by several Sheriffs of this State, into the Secretary's office; of all fees received by them ect - and the report was accepted in concurrence.
Resolve respecting Sheriffs, was read once and ordered to be laid on the table.
The House reconsidered their vote of yesterday refusing a second reading to the Bill regulating the taking of Lobsters - and then gave the Bill to give it a third reading.
