On motion of Mr Moore of Steuben

   Ordered that the Secretary of State be directed to transmit information to this House of the several grants & immunities to the several Literary Institutions & Colleges within this State by the legislature since the year 1820 and during that year - read & passed. 

Resolve for providing Public Buildings for the use of the State, was read a second time & passed to be engrossed in concurrence - and the question was decided by yeas and nays as follows - yeas 91 Nays 52 [see appendix page 274.]

Petition of sundry inhabitants of Burnham that said town may be annexed to Kennebec County was read & referred to the Committee on the incorporation of towns. Sent up for concurrence

Petition of Oliver N Allen & als Selectmen of Lubee for a law making valid certain on the Judiciary. Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of B. C. Alwood & als to be incorporated by the name of the Portland Mutual Fire Insurance Company, was read & referred to the Committee on Banks ect. Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of Paul Allen that his lands within the town of New Gloucester may be annexed to Pownal, read & referred to the committee on Parishes ect. Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of Joseoh Whitney that the toll on the Bridge across the river St Croix at Ferry point in Calais may be increased was read & referred to the committee on Turnpikes Bridges & Canals. Sent up for concurrence.
