Ordered that Messrs Allen of Norrridgewock, Dennison of Freeport & Hastings of Bethel be a committee to enquire, whether any & what further provision is necessary to regulate the payment of fines & bills of cost into the Treasury of the State - read & passed.

An order came from the Senate for concurrence appointing Messrs Churchill & Sheppard with such as the House may join a committee to take into consideration what measures ought to be adopted to secure the public records of the State from fire & other casualties &c - The House concurred and Messrs Russell of North Yarmouth Wing of Wayne & Hall of Parkman were joined.

An order came from the Senate for concurrence appointing Messrs Fairbanks & Stebbins with such as the House may join a committee to consider the expediency of requiring Sheriffs to give public notice respectively of the appointment of their deputies; also Clerks of the Courts of Sessions of the qualification of Coroners in their respective Counties; & also Treasurers of towns and Plantations of the election & qualification of Constables - & the House concurred & Messrs Spring of Hiram, Hill of Lyman & Stephenson of Gorham were joined.

Ordered, that the Committee on State Lands be instructed to print the whole, or such part of the Report of the Land Agent & accompanying papers referred to therein, as may in their opinion, be interesting to the Legislature, & production of public benefit - read and passed - Sent up for concurrence -

The committee of elections to whom was referred the remonstrance of Aaron Hill & als against the election of Joshua Carpenter reported a statement of facts, & that said Carpenter was duly elected & entitled to hold his seat - report accepted.

Adjourned until nine oclock tomorrow morning.
