[left margin] Message to the Governor & Council informing of quorum
[main body] The Members elect were called to order by M Cush man - Mr Dunlap was charged with a mess age to the Governor and Council that a Quorum of the members elect of the Senate were present and ready to be qualified. and the Governor was pleased to say that he would meet the Senators and Represen tatives elect in the Representatives Chamber at 11 oclock for the purpose of administering the oaths required by the Constitution.
{left margin} Members of Senate + H.R. qualified [main body] The Members elect then repaired to the Representatives Chamber when the Governor came in accompan ied by the Council and preceded by the Sheriff of Cumberland and the Members elect of both branches of the Legislature took and subscribed the oaths of office required by the Constitution before the Governor in presence of the Council.
[left margin} President elected [main body] The members of the Senate then returned to their Chamber, Messrs Dennett, Herrick and Cutler were appointed a committee to receive, sort and count the votes for President, who having attended to that duty, reported that the whole number of votes given was 17 Necessary to constitute an election 9 Robert P. Dunlap had 14 Rueel Williams 2 Mark Dennet 1 and there was one blank ballot
Mr Dunlap then signified his acceptance in an adduss[?] to the Senate and took the Chair.
Messrs Grover, Weston and Mace were appointed
