Sent down for concurrence. Came up concurred.

Bill to incorporate the Benevolent Society of Bowdoin College and Bill to divide the town of Machias and incorporate the towns of East Machias, West Machias and Machias Port came back from the House amended and the Senate reconsidered their former votes and passed the same to be engrossed as amended in concurrence with the House.

Mr. Churchill from the Committee on Engrossed Bills reported the following to be truly copied viz'

Bill to change the name of the town of Joy, Bill to divide the South Parish and to establish the East Parish in Augusta and Bill to incorporate the Waterford Canal Company and the same were passed to be enacted

Remonstrances of John Fox and others against the petition of Sundry Inhabitants of the town of Portland for a tax on sales at auction was read, and in concurrence with the House, referred to the Select Committee, who have that subject under consideration

Petition of William R. Ware, for remuneration for his services as Aid de Camp, was read and in concurrence with the House referred to the Committee on Accounts.

Petition of Aaron Austin and others to be incorporated for the purpose of building a meeting House in Thomaston was read, and in concurrence with the House, referred to the Committee on Parishes &c
