188 Resolve in favor of the town of Howland, was laid upon the table by Mr Carpenter, and on motion, amended, but before the question of passing the same to be engrossed was taken, the House adjourned until afternoon.

Bill repealing so much of an act entitled an act to repeal an act to establish Courts of Sessions + for establishing Courts of Sessions passed Feby 24 1825 and so much of an additional act respecting highways passed Feby 24 1827 as provides for the appointment of a standing committee to view + lay out roads + vesting that power in the Courts of Sessions for each County came from the Senate passage refused - and the House ad hered to their vote of 22nd ult passing the bill to be engrossed.

Ordered that the Secretary of State cause five hundred copies of a Resolve in relation to aggressions upon the North- eastern frontier of the State to be printed, to be distributed with the report, upon so much of the Governors Message as relates to the North eastern boundary, and the report of the agent - read + passed. Sent up for concurrence.

Bill incorporating the Portland Fire Insurance Company was read a third time + passed to be engrossed as amended. Sent up for concurrence.

Bill providing for the promotion of Education, was read a third time and passed to be engrossed as amended on sheet annexed marked [?]. Sent up for concurrence.

Bill providing for State Paupers, was reported in a new draft which was adopted, read twice + referred to the next Legislature + ordered to be published in all the papers that publish the laws of the State. Sent up for concurrence.
