Petition of Ezra St John Smith for authority to change his name, was read & referred to the Committee on change of names.

Message from the Senate by Mr Smith their Secretary Mr Speaker The Senate request that the deed from Joshua Gage & als to the State of Maine presented to the last Legislature & referred to this, & the accompanying papers, may be sent to them. The House sent up the papers accordingly.

Resolve for the relief of Ebenezer Alden, was read a 2d time & indefinitely postponed

Bill additional to an act entitled an act to regulate the inspection of Stone lime & lime casks - was refused a 3d reading.

Bill to incorporate the Mozart Society, was read 1st & 2d time & tomorrow at 10' oclock assigned for a 3d reading.

Resolve relating to the Island of Matinicus, was Read 1st & 2d time & passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.

Ordered that Mr Eastman of Palermo, Hodgman of Warren & Shaw of Northport be a committee to consider the expediency of amending an act additional to an act for the relief of Poor Debtors passed Feby 25 1824 - read & passed.

Message from the Governor.

A message was received from the Governor dated Feby 7. 1825 [see appendix page 227] on subject of the New Jersey Resolutions &c - which read in Senate came down - and the House read the same & sent it up.
