[1824] Senate January 14 1824
[Notice concerning Wm B. Sewall Esq.] A communication was received from the Secretary of State, informing that he had employed William B. Sewall Esq. to draft and copy Bills and Resolves for the Legislature during their present Session. Read and sent down.
[Pet. Inhab't Frankfort] Petition of sundry Inhabitants of Frankfort to be set off from that town and annexed to Monroe, was taken from the files, and referred to the Committee on the Incorporation of Towns. Sent down for concurrence.
[Resolve in favor of B Pike] Resolve in favour of Bennett Pike was read a 2nd time and passed to be engrossed as taken into a new draft with amendments. Sent down for concurrence.
[Bills read once] Bill to repeal 2nd Section of An Act entitled An Act to restrain unincorporated Banking associations and for other purposes; and Bill further regulating the proceedings on Warrants issued by Justices of the Peace, were severally read once and committed, and tomorrow 9 Oclock, assigned for their second reading.
[Pet. John F. Scammon & als] Petition of John F. Scammon & others that the Judicial Courts in the County of York may in future be holden at Kennebunk, committed in House to Messrs. Pond, Britton and Eames with such as the Senate may join, came up for concurrence, was read and concurred and Messrs. Anderson and Campbell were joined.
