Saturday January 10th 1829

Met according to adjournment

Ordered on motion of Mr. Bourne, That a committee appointed to inquire whether any alterations are necessary in a Resolve pass Jan y 28, 1822, providing for the promulgation of the laws of the State, with leave to report +c and Messrs. Bourne of Kennebunk, Merrill of Sidney + Sanborne of Limerick were appointed said committee.

Ordered that the Senate be requested to take from their files the petitions following + send to this House viz William Maxwell Jun + als Benj. Whitney + als Lot rider Jun + als Ellis Brusher + als a committee of the town of Hollis Read and passed. Sent up.

The Committee to whom was recommended the subject of contracting with some suitable person to perform the duties of Messenger +c with special instructions, reported that they have employed Thomas Baker to perform those duties by himself, a Page and one other person at a compensation of Four dollars a day - and the report was accepted.

Ordered, That there be a Joint Standing Committee on Claims, read + passed. Sent up for concurrence.

The Senate concurred in the appointment of said committee and appointed thereon, on their part, Messrs. Gardner + Bodwell. - The House joined on said committee on their part Messrs Little of Castine, Roberts of Waterboro + Weeks of China.
