On motion of Mr. Adams of Portland Ordered, that so much of the Governor's communication as relates to the boundary line between the State and the State of New Hampshire be referred to a select committee of this House with such as the Senate may join.
Mr. Smith of Newfield from the committee to contract with some person to perform the duties of Messenger &c reported that the committee had contracted with Thomas Baker to perform those duties at the rate of four dollars per day, and the House refused to accept the report.
On motion of Mr. Cobb of Phippsburg, the same committee were then instructed to contract with Thomas Baker the present incumbent, to perform the duties of messenger Door Keeper and Page by himself and such assistants as may be necessary at a rate not exceeding four dollars per day.
Mr. Smith declined further service on said committee the House excused him therefrom and appointed in his stead Mr. Cobb of Phippsburg.

Mr. Speaker: At the request of the Governor, and in compliance with the provisions of the Constitution, I have the honor to lay before the House of Representatives, the volumes of the Register of the Council, in which are recorded the Resolutions & advice of that Board, from the organization of this State to the present time; and to inform this honorable House that I will wait their pleasure as to the return of them. The volumes were accordingly laid on the Speaker's table.
