Oct 20th We marched at three oclock in the morning and halted near New Baltimore and camped. 21st We lay still all day. The 1st Me Cavelry passed in the evening. I saw Prentiss. Sidney is away to Washington lame. prentis gave me a letter he had from our brother Stoner in California 22d We moved camp about 40 rods 23d I wrote a letter to Stoner in California. We moved camp about a mile 34th A rainy day and one long [?] Marched in the evening to Auburn about 4 miles 25th We moved camp about 40 rods and pitched tents. 26th Lay in camp all day 27th We heard some canonading in the direction of rappahannock station and in the direction of Alexandria. We drilled P.M. 28th A squad drill A.M. and P.M.
