Ordered that the committee on the Judiciary be instructed to enquire into the expediency of amending an act additional to an act for the relief of Poor Debtors passed Feby 25th 1824 so far as to define the bonds therein prescribed, and altering the forms of processes in law so far as to conform to said act – read and passed – Sent up for concurrence.

Ordered that the Committee on Military affairs be instructed to enquire into the expediency of so amending the law respecting the Militia as to make it the duty of the Selectmen and Assessors of the several towns & plantations in this State, to furnish the Militia of their respective towns & plantations with blank cartridges to be expended by them on days of annual review – read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

Ordered that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to take into consideration the expediency of enlarging the powers of the Judges of Probate within the several Counties of this State, so that said Judges may be authorized to give license to Executors and administrators to sell at public Auction all debts that may be due the estate that appear to be doubtful whether they can be collected, – and also all debts not due till after the time shall have expired allowed to creditors to bring in claims against said estate. read and passed. Sent up for concurrence.

Ordered that the Committee on Finance be instructed to enquire what sum it will be necessary to raise by an assessment upon polls and estates to defray the expenses of government for the ensuing year. read and passed.
