Saturday January 17th 1829

Met according to adjournment

On motion of Mr. Kent of Bangor Ordered, That the joint standing committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of requiring the Affidavit of Witness to the truth of their certificates of travel & attendance in civil causes - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

On motion of Mr. Shapleigh of Berwick, Ordered, that the committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency o altering the law respecting trespasses committed by certain Officers in the execution of their duty - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

On motion of Mr. Bradbury of Hollis, Ordered that the Secretary of State be requested to lay before the House, the returns of the Highway tax of the several towns in this State, which were made agreeably to a Resolve passed February 25 1828 - read & passed.

Petition of Patrick Finn -

             of Samuel Haines for leave to change their names - were severally read & referred to the committee on change of names.

Petition of Zadoc Bishop & als for a grant of land, was read & referred to Messrs. Boutelle of Waterville, Vance of Baring & Herrick of Lewiston with such as the Senate mya join. Sent up for concurrence.
