instructed to inquire into the expediency of altering the third section of an act entitled an act additional to an act to secure to owners their property in logs, masts, spars and other timber in certain cases passed Feby 11th 1823 - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

Resolve in favor of Seth Spring, was read once and tuesday next at ten o clock assigned for a second reading & referred to Messrs. Jewett of Bowdoinham, Vance of Baring & Selden of Norridgewock.

Bill declaring the Penobscot River and certain branches thereof public rivers or highways, taken from the last years files of the Senate, came down referred to Messrs. Parsons, & Witham with such as the House may join for concurrence and the House concurred & Messrs. Kent of Bangor, Clark of Hallowell & Harvey of Carmel were joined.

Report on the petition of the Selectmen of Abbot, referring the subject matter thereof to the committee who have under consideration an order of the House relating to the situation of the town of Greenwood, was read & accepted.

On motion of Mr. Adams of Portland, Ordered that the Governor be requested to communicate to this House any reports which the late or present land agent has made of his doings to the Governor & Council as required by the 9th section of an act entitled "An act to promote the sale & settlement of public lands passed 20th Feby 1828 - also any accounts which said land agent may have settled with the Governor & Council as he is required to do by the provisions of the above mentioned section - read & passed. Sent up.

Resolve for the benefit of Waterville College, was read a second time and passage refused. Sent up for concurrence.
