Deblois eleven & Isaac Adams one - no one having the requisite majority the House proceeded to take a second ballot - The whole number given on the second ballot was One hundred & thirty seven - necessary to constitute an election sixty nine - John W. Smith had sixty eight - Joseph S. Jewett had fifty one - Ebenezer H. Scribner had fourteen - Thomas A. Deblois had one - John B. Osborne had one - Edward Kent had one & John D. Kinsman had one - No person having the requisite majority the House proceeded to tale a third ballot - The whole number given in, on the third ballot was One hundred & forty two - necessary to constitute an election seventy two - John W. Smith had seventy one - Joseph S. Jewett had sixty five - Ebenezer H. Scribner had four - Isaac Adams had one & Thomas A. Deblois one. No person having the requisite majority the House proceeded to take a fourth ballot - The whole number given in on the fourth ballot was One hundred forty one - necessary to constitute an election seventy one - Joseph S. Jewett had seventy four, and he was declared elected on the part of the House and the Clerk acquainted the Senate therewith by message.
