The same committee reported as duly engrossed, Resolve, authorizing the Governor to negotiate with the Penobscot Indians for the transfer of two townships of land to the State was finally passed. Sent up for concurrence.

Report of the committee on the order &c of 19th ult in relation to altering the law concerning Parishes, that Legislation on that subject is inexpedient, came down accepted in Senate for concurrence - and the House concurred.

Memorial of Prentiss Mellen & Nathan Weston Junr - Judges of the Supreme Judicial Court praying for an increase of their Salaries - came down referred in Senate to Messrs. Kingsbury & Parsons with such as the House may join - and the House concurred and Messrs. Pond of Bucksport Carpenter of Howland & Swan of Portland were joined.

Bill to annex part of Patricktown Plantation to the town of Jefferson, reported with sundry amendments, which were adopted, was read a third time & passed to be engrossed as amended - Sent up for concurrence.

The House resumed the consideration of the Order moved by Mr. Shaw of Wiscasset which was under consideration yesterday in relation to an examination into the affairs of the State Prison &c - and the House refused to pass the order - The question was taken by yeas & nays as follows yeas 53 nays 77 [see appendix page 287.]

Petition of Thomas Packard & als to be incorporated by the name of the Eastern Stage Company, was read & referred to the committee on Manufactures. Sent up for concurrence.
