Met according to adjournment An order came from the Senate for concurrence directing the Committee on Turnpikes, Bridges & Canals to inquire into the expediency of so amending the law as to authorize the Court of Sessions to order & direct what kind of Boats shall be kept at the several Ferries & how the same shall be propelled - and the House concurred.
On motion of Mr. Atherton of Prospect, Ordered, That the Committee on the Judiciary inquire as to the expediency of establishing by law the specific number of bushels of Salt which shall constitute the Hogshead, whether afloat or in store - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.
Bill to incorporate the Springvale Printworks Company was read 1st & 2d time & Monday next at eleven o clock assigned for a 3rd reading.
Reuel Williams Esq member elect, from Augusta appeared, presented his credentials, was qualified & took his seat.
Messrs. Bradford of Livermore & Nash of Addison have leave of absence after Monday next during the remainder of the session - Mr. Appleton of Alfred for three days after Monday next.
Report of the committee on the order directing an inquiry as to the expediency of providing by law for the Probate of Wills & when the Judges of Probate are interested, that legislation is inexpedient on that subject, came down accepted in Senate for concurrence - and the House concurred.
