15 Ordered, that such members of the House, as have not presented formal evidence of their election, be permitted to hold their seats until they have an opportunity to procure the same.

A message was received from the Senate by Mr Hutchinson their Secretary proposing a Convention in the Representatives Chamber at 3 oclock this afternoon for the purpose of coming to the choice of seven Counsellors to advise the Governor in the Executive part of Government the current political year.

Adjourned until 1/2 past two oclock this afternoon.

A message was received from the Senate by Mr Hutchinson their Secretary, proposing that the Convention to be formed this afternoon at three oclock should continue in session after the choice of Counsellors, for the purpose of coming to the choice of a Secretary of State for the current political year - and the House concurred and the Clerk was requested to acquaint the Senate therewith.

Agreeably to assignment the two branches met in convention in the Representatives Chamber at 3'oclock and proceeded by ballot to the choice of seven Counsellors to advise the Governor in the Executive part of Government the current political year. The whole number given in was one hundred & fifty seven. Necessary to a choice seventy nine, Daniel Wood Esq had one hundred & thirty five, William Chadwick Esq had one hundred forty seven, Jonathan Thayer Esq had ninety five Alanson Mellen Esq had one hundred & fifty two, Samuel Whitney Esq had ninety five & Amos Patten one hundred & fifty four, and they were severally duly elected.
