Assistance in transporting the said Torrey to the line of the State in the execution of this Warrant

In Testimony whereof, I have caused the Seal of this State to be hereunto affixed, this sixth day of March, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty two; and in the forty sixth year of the Independence of the United States of America.

To all who shall see these Presents,

Greeting:

Know ye, That, I, Ashur Ware, Secretary of State, of the State of Maine, reposing special trust and confidence in the ability and integrity of Amos Nichols, of Portland, by virtue of the authority in me vested, by the Constitution of said State, do, by these Presents, appoint and constitute the said Amos Nichols, Deputy secretary of State, of said State: To have and to hold the same office, with all the powers, privileges, and immunities thereunto of right appertaining, to him the said Amos Nichols, during my pleasure.

In Testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my private Seal, this twenty third day of March, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty two.

Personally appeared Amos Nichols, and took and subscribed the oaths prescribed by the Constitution of this State, and a law of the United States, to qualify him to execute the trust reposed in him by the within Warrant of appointment
