42 Ordered that the committee on the Judiciary be instructed to consider the expediency of repealing the act passed FebY 23 1825 respecting the Inspection of Beef, Pork, Butter & Lard - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

Ordered that the Senate be requested to take from their files & send to this House, the petition of Samuel Chase, presented to the last Legislature and referred to the present - read & passed. Sent up.

Ordered that Messrs Morrill of Chesterville, Cobb of Durham & Alden of Northport be a committee to consider the expediency of revising the existing Probate Laws & read & passed.

The joint Committee appointed to employ some suitable person to assist the members of the Legislature in drafting bill & resolves the present session, reported that they have engaged William B. Sewall for that purpose - and the House accepted the same in concurrence with the Senate.

Ordered that the committee on accounts be discharged from the consideration of the order of the 10th instant instructing them to inquire concerning the pay of the Secretary of State & certain other officers, and that Messrs Davis of Augusta, Cobb of Durham Alden of Northport Morrill of Chesterville & Davee of Dover with such as the Senate may join be a committee to take into consideration all applications made the present session for an increase of salary by the officers of government, and to have power generally to consider the subject of compensation of the various officers of government. read and passed.
