On motion of Mr. Stebbins, ordered thatthe Petition of Rufus Gilmore and others, be taken from the files and laid on the table: Referred to the Committee on Interior Fisheries: Sent down for concurrence, and came up concurred.

[Communication]

A communication was received from Jonathan Thayer Esqr. a Councillor elect, signifying his acceptance of the trust and his readiness to be qualified: Read and sent down.

[Committee on the appropriation of certain monies]

Order of the House that the Committee on Literature and Literary Institutions be instructed to enquire into the expediency of appropriating that part of the Massachusetts claim on the Government of the United States for Military Services during the late war, when realized, which will be assigned to this State; and also the tax which may hereafter accrue to the State from the increase of Bank Stock as a fund for internal improvements and the support of literary Institutions; came up for concurrence, was read and concurred.

[Resolve]

Resolve for the admission of Nathl. M. Lowney to practice as an attorney, passed to to be engrossed in the House, came up for concurrence, was read and committed to Messrs. Campbell, Parlin and Dunlap.
