To all persons to whom these Presents shall come,

Greeting:

Be it Known, That Peleg Sprague of Hallowell, in our County of Kennebec, Esquire, on the sixteenth day of January, current, was constitutionally elected by the Legislature a Senator, to represent this State in the Congress of the United States, for the period of six years; commencing with the fourth day of March, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine, according to the provisions of the Constitution.

Given under our Seal Witness Enoch Lincoln, Esquire, our Governor, at Portland the twenty third day of January in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine; and in the fifty third year of the Independence of the United States, of America.
