Petition of Selectmen of Dover for a grant of land, committed in the House to the Committee on Parishes, &c. came up for concurrence, was read and concurred.

Bill to exempt from taxation manufacturing Companies of Cotton and wool for limited times, was read a 2d. time, and referred to Messrs. Dunlop, Scamman and Holland, and Thursday next at 10 o clock assigned for a further consideration of the same.

Petition of Samuel Veazie and others, for a revision of the Militia Law, was read and referred to the Committee on the Militia &c. sent down for concurrence.

[Committee on Highways]

Order of the House that the Committee on New Trials be instructed to enquire into the expediency of authorizing the Justices of the Court of Sessions, and the Selectmen of towns, when called upon to open High ways, when the lands reserved for that purpose are unfit, or the public good requires that they should be opened through the lots; to convey to the owners of those lots the range ways adjoining them at their just valuation as compensation for damages sustained; came up for concurrence, was read and concurred.
