[Pet. Selectmen Portland] Petition of Inhabitants of Portland that authority may be given to their Selectmen to appoint certain officers, were read and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary in concurrence.

[Petitions of Inhabs. of Hartland] Petition of Inhabitants of Hartland that a gore of land belonging to St. Albans may be annexed to said Hartland [Pet. of Ira Fish & als] " of Ira Fish that townships No.2 and 3 with a 1/2 township lying between them in the county of Penobscot may be incorporated into a town by the name of Lima. [Remonstrances referred] Remonstrance of Starks against petition of Joshua Young and als. " of Hartland against petition of Thomas [?]Douman & als were read and referred to the Committee on Incorporation of towns - in concurrence.

[petition of John Drummond] " " John Drummond and als for leave to build a Bridge across Sebasticook River - were read and referred to the Committee on Turnpikes Bridges and Canals in concurrence.

[Petition of R. Chadbourne for redress] Petition of J. R. Chadbourne for redress for depredations committed by the Indians was read and the Senate nonconcur with the House in referring this petition to the committee on the Judiciary and referred the same to the Committee on Claims - Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

[Order to notify Secy. of State] On motion by Mr. Phelps, Ordered that the Secretary of the Senate notify Edward Russell Esqr. that he has been duly elected Secretary of Sate by both Branches.
