On motion by Mr Grover, Ordered that the Senate proceed this day at eleven oclock to the choice of a Chaplain and that nomination lists be suspended.

[Assistant appointed]

On motion by Mr Williams, Ordered that the Secretary of the Senate be authorized to appoint an assistant with a compensation not exceeding Two Dollars per day. George C. Getchell was appointed.

Mr Dennett from the Committee to examine & report on the return of votes for Senators in the several Districts of this State reported that in the District of York the whole number of votes returned according to the provision of the Constitution is 3995
