[Convention to elect Councillors Sec. of State & Treasurer.]
to the Chamber of the Representatives, for the purpose of forming a Convention for the election of seven Councillors to advise the governor in the Executive Department of the government, and of a Secretary and Treasurer of State, for the current political year. The President pro tem. of the Senate assumed the chair in Convention

On motion, Messrs Ingalls of Cumberland, Healey of Lincoln, Swan of Portland, White of Monmouth & Scamman of Saco were appointed a Committee to receive sort and Count the votes for seven Counsillors.

On motion by Mr Clark of Hallowell; Ordered, that the ballots for councillors contain the name of the seven councillors voted for.

Mr Smith of Nobleborough moved the following order: Whereas Nathan D. Appleton, Abijah Usher Jr and John Bodwell appear in this Convention, claiming to act therein as Senators for the County of York; and Whereas said Appleton, Bodwell and Usher have not been duly and constitutionally elected as such; therefore, Ordered that the Committee which are a may be appointed to receive, sort and count the votes given in this Convention, be instructed not to receive ballots from the said Appleton, Bodwell and Usher.
