On motion of Mr Emerson of Portland, Ordered that the joint standing Committee on the Judiciary be directed to inquire into the expediency of altering the law regulating Costs in Trustee processes, with leave &c - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

On motion of Mr Bradford of Livermore, Ordered, that the committee on contested elections be instructed to inquire and report whether any person has been permitted to take a seat in this House as a member thereof who is not constitutionally entitled to the same by reason of his holding any office of profit or honor under this State. - read & passed.

On motion of Mr Bourne of Kennebunk, Ordered that the committee on the Judiciary be directed to inquire, whether any alterations are necessary in the law regulating costs, on appeals in civil actions - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

On the motion of Mr Redington of Vassalboro'. Ordered that the committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of providing by law, that the Selectmen of any town through which a public highway may be hereafter located, shall be required to procure and set up stones of a suitable length, at every offset or angle in said highway - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.
