On motion by Mr Grover, Ordered, that a message be sent to the House of Representatives informing that body that there is a deficiency of one Senator in the District of Hancock and a deficiency of one Senator in the District of Washington and that Joshua Hall and Joseph Shaw in Hancock District, John Balkam and Ichabod Bucknam in Washington District are the constitutional candidates and proposing a convention at 11 oclock this forenoon for the purpose of supplying said deficiencies - concurred

Order of the House of Representatives appointing Messrs Carpenter, Swan and Ingalls with such as the Senate may join to contract with some suitable person to draft Bills and Resolves for the Legislature the present session was read and passed in concurrence and Messrs Mace & Kavanagh were joined

Mr Williams from the Committee to examine and report upon the returns of votes for Governor given in the several towns and plantations in this State reported that the whole number of votes given by the qualified electors and returned according to the provisions of the Constitution is Twenty thousand four hundred & fifty eight, necessary to constitute an election Ten thousand two hundred and thirty - that Enoch Lincoln has Nineteen thousand nine hundred and sixty nine and is duly elected Governor of the State of Maine for the current political year by a majority of all the votes returned agreeably to the provisions of the Constitution - The Committee have rejected the votes of the town of Freeport in the County of Cumberland for uncertainty as to the number of votes given, the return stating that the votes were for Enoch Lincoln nine one votes Joel Kelsey one vote They have also rejected
