Ordered that the joint standing Committee on Turnpikes Bridges & Canals be instructed to inquire into the expediency of appropriating a half township of Land for erecting a free bridge across the Penobscot River at the most suitable place between Bangor and Old town, provided that Massachusetts will appropriate another half townships with leave to report & read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.
The committee on engrossed Bills reported as duly engrossed Resolve to encourage & aid the publication of a statistical view and Map of the State - providing for the choice of Electors of President & Vice President - which were severally finally passed. Sent up for concurrence.
The same committee reported as duly engrossed. Bill - giving a lien to Ship Carpenters & others on vessels - - to incorporate the Penobscot Mill Dam Corporation - - additional to an act to incorporate the Proprietors of Kittery Point Bridge - in addition to the several acts defining the general powers and duties of Manufacturing Corporation - - to incorporate the Bangor Mechanic Association - - to authorize the Selectmen of Portland & Bath to appoint an additional number of Enginemen - - to incorporate the Proprietors of the Brunswick Tontine Hotel - which were severally passed to be enacted. Sent up for concurrence.
Resolve - in favor of Josiah Towle, came from the Senate passed to be engrossed as in new draft for concurrence - The House so far receded from their former votes as to adopt the new draft and pass the same to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.
