27 Tuesday January 8th 1828

Order of the House of Representatives that Messrs Barrett Vance and Bridgham with such as the senate may join be a committee to inquire into the expediency of altering the Laws relating to the taxation of property, with leave to report by bill or otherwise was read and passed in concurrence and Messrs Hath- away and Balknam were joined. [Committee to alter the Laws relating to Taxation]

On motion by Mr Cushman Ordered that the Committee on Banks and Banking be instructed to consider whether any and what alterations ought to be made in the Act entitled "An additional Act respecting Banks", passed the last session of the Legislature and that they have leave to report by Bill or other- wise. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred [Order respecting Law relating to Banks]

[Order respecting State printing]

Order of January 5th, directing the Secretary of State to procure the printing for the State came amended so as to require that officer to receive sealed proposals and contract upon the lowest terms. The Senate nonconcur the House in their proposed amendment and adhere to their former vote passing the order "The question" will the Senate nonconur the House in their proposed amendment ordered to be taken by yeas and nays was decided as follows Yeas Messrs Dennett, Sweat, Emery, Dunlap, Megquier, Mace, Kavanagh, Richardson, Miller, Hathaway, Balknam, Grover, Williams and Washburn 15 Nays Messrs Herrick, Cutler, Cushman, Weston and Parsons
