[Report of Com: on Literature] Mr. Cushman from the Committee on Literature &c on that part of the Governor's Speech relating to public instruction made an extended Report on the subject committed to them which was read, accepted and sent down for concurrence. concurred.
[Report of the Conference respecting Sheriffs] Mr. Kingsbury from the Conferees on the disagreement of the two Houses respecting the Bill entitled " An additional Act respecting Sheriffs'" reported that they had met the conferees on the part of the House and recommend that the Senate recede from their former vote whereby they passed this Bill to be engrossed and amend the same by reinstating in the second section the provision " that a Sheriff shall not demand or receive of his Deputies any part of the fees for travel and service in levying and collecting executions issued by Justices of the Peace wherein the debt or damage does not exceed twenty Dollars" and also to exchange the second amendment from "fifteen" to "twelve". Read & accepted. And the Senate having reconsidered their former vote, amended the Bill in conformity to the report of the conferees and passed the same to be engrossed as amended. Sent down for concurrence.
