196 On motion by Mr. Page Ordered that when the Senate adjourn to meet again this afternoon at 3 o'clock. Adjourned.

Afternoon, [Resolve for the payment of Accounts] Mr. Page from the Committee on accounts reported Roll of Accounts No. 10 together with Resolve for the payment of Accounts, against the State, and the same was read once, ordered to a second reading, again read and passed to be engrossed. Sent down for concurrence.

[Bill concerning legal settlement refused passage] Bill additional to an Act ascertaining what shall constitute the legal settlement; and providing for the relief, support and employment of the poor was read a second time and passage refused. Sent down for concurrence.

[Order respecting pay of Messenger &c] On motion by Mr. Kingsbury, Ordered that Messrs. Page and Gardner with such as the House may join be a Committee to consider what compensation ought to be allowed the Chaplains and Messengers of both Houses, the assistant clerk of the House, the assistant Secretary of the Senate and Draftsman and report by Resolve or otherwise.
