The Committee appointed to prepare & report a list of members - the town or class which each represents & the number of the seat which each occupies made a report which report being read an order that the seats of James Adams & Joseph Durell both from the district of Embden &c be vacated until it is ascertained which is entitled to his seat was introduced by Mr White of Monmouth which order being read & passed the report was accordingly amended. read & accepted.
A message was received from the Senate reconsidering their proposition of yesterday for a convention of both Branches for the purpose of choosing seven Councillors &c - and proposing a Convention for the same purpose at the same place this afternoon at three o'clock and the House concurred & the Clerk acquainted the Senate therewith.
A report of the committee of both Houses appointed to examine the returns of votes for Governor &c was made by which it appears that the whole number of votes given in by the qualified electors and returned according to the provision of the Constitution & laws is Fifty nine Thousand and ninety two - necessary for a choice of Governor Twenty nine Thousand five Hundred & Forty seven and that Samuel E. Smith has Thirty two Thousand & fifteen and is constitutionally elected Governor of the State of Maine.
