[Order concerning Genl. Varnums Petition]

On motion of Mr. Stebbins, Ordered that the petition of Phineas Varnum &als. which had been previously presented and laid on the table, be not sustained, and that the same be taken from the table; the petitioners having mistaken the privileges with which the people of Maine are represented in their Senate, and the grounds on which the proposed investigation can, with propriety, be sought. -

Bill in addition to the several Acts to organize, govern and discipline the Militia,” passed to be engrossed in the House, came up for concurrence, and was read once and committed to Messrs. Dunlap, Green and Fairbanks, and Saturday next at 10 oclock assigned for a 2d. reading. -

[Order concerning Land adjoining Gilead]

On motion of Mr. Ripley, Ordered that the Committee on State Lands be directed to inquire what lands, if any, belong to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of Maine, adjoining the town of Gilead in the County of Oxford; and what measures ought to be taken for the survey and disposal of the same; with leave to report by Resolve or otherwise: sent down for concurrence. -
