66 Tuesday January 18th 1831 Met according to adjournment On motion of Mr. Herrick of Lewiston Ordered that the Senate be requested to take from their files the petition of Edward Little & others for the preservation of Lewiston Bridge & send the same to this House.

A message was received from the Senate informing the House that they had excused Mr. Kingsbury from serving on the Valuation Committee and had appointed Mr. Hinds in his stead.

On motion the House excused Mr. Ide of Frankfort from serving on the Committee on Interior Fisheries & Mr. Hardy of Bucksport was appointed in his stead.

Ordered that the Senate be requested to take from their files the Petition of the towns of Hollis & Buxton and accompanying papers to send the same to the House.

On motion of Mr. Smith of Portland Ordered that the committee on so much of the Governor's Message as relates to Internal Improvements be instructed to inquire into the expediency of requesting the cooperation of the State of New Hampshire & Vermont in adopting measures & making appropriations for improving the road leading from this State to the State of New Hampshire & Vermont - through the notch of the White Hills - and t hat said Committee also inquire what appropriation if any it is expedient for this State to make in furtherance of the aforesaid object. Sent up for concurrence.

Resolve respecting the town of Greenwood was read & tomorrow at 10 o'clock assigned for a 3d reading of the same
