Friday February 11, 1831 Met according to adjournment

Ordered that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of granting by law similar powers to a Constable in the town of Calais as those which are now granted to a Constable in the town of Eastport, and be subjected to similar liabilities and report the same by bill or otherwise - sent up for concurrence. Petition of John Holway and others to be incorporated by the name of the Washington Mutual Fire Insurance Company - was read and referred to Messrs. Talbot of Machias, Dodge of Burnham and Deane of Ellsworth. Petition of the town of Hebron for separate representation was read and referred to the Committee on Apportionment of Representatives & c - also Remonstrance of Joseph Hutchinson and others against the same petition - was read and referred to the same Committee - sent up for concurrence.
