303 Monday March 28, 1831 Met according to adjournment Bill to prevent the filling up & obstruction of St Croix river was read a 3rd time the amendments of the Senate adopted and the bill passed to be engrossed as further amended on sheet annexed marked C - sent up for concurrence. Resolve in favor of Charles Morris was read a 2nd time & passed to be engrossed in concurrence. Bill to prevent the destruction of Pickerel in Pushaw Lake in the towns of Dutton, Kirkland and Orono in the County of Penobscot was read a 3rd & passed to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence. Bill to change the names of certain persons was read a 3rd time and passed to be engrossed - sent up for concurrence. Mr. Leach of Penobscot has leave of absence after this day during the remainder of the session. An order was moved by Mr. Hamlin of Columbia that the Committee on Finance be instructed to inquire into the expediency of allowing the town of Columbia some drawback on the State taxes which said town has paid during the last ten years upon an error in the valuation of 1821 amounting to about one fifth part of the whole valuation - which order was read & referred to the next Legislature - sent up for concurrence. Resolve in favor of Andrew MacMillan was read a 2nd time & passed to be engrossed - sent up for concurrence.
