Camp near Harriss Landing July 17th 1862 Governor Washburn Dear Sir Having served well and Faithfully I think it is due me A Better Position and as you have a right to make Appointments from the Regiment In the field I would like An appointment as captain in The Eighteenth Regiment Which you are about to raise and the Privagle to come home and Raise my Company
