Petition of Elisha J Ford praying that the petition of Robert H Gardiner & als to be incorporated for the purpose of maintaining a Ferry from Gardiner village across the Kennebec to Pittston, came down referred in Senate to the committee on Turnpikes, Bridges & Canals for concurrence & the House concurred.

Petition of Allen Greely & als belonging to the association of Congregational Ministers for the purpose of providing for the relief of the families of deceased ministers, praying for an act on incorporation, was read and referred to the Committee on Parishes &c - Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of James Givins & als praying that the petition of Robert H. Gardiner & als to be incorporated as a ferry Company - also Remonstrances of Eliphalet Rollins & als - of James Meagher & als - of David P Bailey & als - of Samuel Nelson & als all against the petition of Robert H Gardiner & als for a ferry &c at Gardiner &c were severally read & referred to the committee on Turnpikes, Bridges & Canals. Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of the Strafford Manufacturing Company to be recognized as a Corporation in this State, was read & referred to the committee on Manufactures. Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of David Garland & als Selectmen of Winslow for a correction in the valuation of the property in said town &c was read & referred to the committee Finance.

On motion of Mr Adams of Portland, Ordered That the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of amending the law relating to keeping watches & wards in towns &c - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.
