The same committee reported as duly engrossed, Resolve, authorizing the Governor to negotiate with the Penobscot Indians for the transfer of two townships of land to the State - was finally passed. Sent up for concurrence.
Report of the committee on the order &c. of 19th ult in relation to altering the law concerning Parishes, that legislation on that subject is inexpedient, came down accepted in Senate for concurrence - and the House concurred.
Memorial of Prentiss Mellen & Nathan Weston Junr Judges of the Supreme Judicial Court praying for an increase of their Salaries - came down referred in Senate to Messrs Kingsbury & Parsons with such as the House may join - and the House concurred and Messrs Pond of Bucksport Carpenter of Howland & Swan of Portland were joined.

The House resumed the consideration of the Order moved by Mr Shaw of Wiscasset which was under consideration yesterday in relation to an examination into the affairs of the State Prison &c - and the House refused to pass the order - The question was taken by yeas & nays as follows yeas 53 nays 77.
