the town, the whole number of inhabitants, in that town, being only eleven hundred and twenty eight in 1830, as appears by the census then taken. It being most apparent, from all the circumstances, that the town officers made a mistake and returned the votes, which were given for Governor, as given for Senators, and those given for Senators for said county, as given for Governor; the votes from Danville were rejected. The votes from from Wiscasset were rejected, it having been made to appear to the committee by sundry affidavits, which are on the files of the Senate, that a large proportion of the votes returned as given in that town, were not "sorted and counted in open town meeting" as required by the Constitution.
