Sent down for concurrence. [Bill to incorporate Newport Academy] An Act to incorporate the Newport Academy was read a second time and passed to be engrossed. Sent down for concurrence. [Resolve - Elias Thomas] Resolve in favor of Elias Thomas was read a second time and passed to be engrossed. Sent down for concurrence. [Bill to Incorporate Portsmouth Company] "An Act to incorporate the Portsmouth Company" was read a second time and a motion was made by Mr. Megquier to strike out the third section of said Act which question being ordered to be taken by yeas and nays, was decided in the negative as follows, To wit: [Yeas] Messrs. Davee, Hutchings, Ingalls, Megquier, and Pike. - 5. [Nays] Nays - Messrs Dole, Drummond, Dunlap, Eastman, Fuller, Gardner, Goodwin, Hall, Harding, Hinds, Hutchinson, Kingsbury, Mose and Sweat - 14. and said Bill was passed to be engrossed. [Remonstrance referred] Remonstrance of R. H. Gardner and others, against the incorporation of the Kennebec Boom Company, was read and referred to the Joint Standing Committee on Turnpikes, Bridges and Canals in concurrence.
